About the dolls

Dolls are found in all cultures and in all times. A doll represents what we experience as an image of the human form.

Sunshine Dolls are dolls to play with, to love, and to cuddle. They are made of natural materials: silk, cotton, and wool, and are filled with washed and carded or combed sheep's wool, making them soft and warm. The knitted fabric the Zonnekind dolls are made from comes in various warm skin tones. The head rests firmly on the torso, and the arms and legs are flexible. Details such as ears, nose, fingers, toes, and belly buttons are deliberately omitted to encourage the child's imagination. The dolls are specially designed to allow children to experience all kinds of emotions with their doll. They are safe and cuddly.

At each developmental stage, children play in different ways and need different toys. The Sunshine Dolls form a series. The older the child, the more defined the Sunshine Doll.
Any toy that allows children to be actively involved in their imagination is truly "playful." The facial expressions of the Sunshine Dolls are neutral and subtly drawn, using colour pencils. The child's imagination will experience their doll as either laughing, crying, or sleeping.

It is essential for a developing child's first seven years that their experiences are completely connected to their environment. Unconsciously absorbed impressions penetrate deeply into the organism and the subconscious. Therefore, we are required to set high standards for the quality of everything in their environment. Materials from the plant and animal world, as long as they undergo minimal processing, retain their natural quality. This is why they so strongly appeal to children. Natural materials are indispensable for the healthy development of a child, especially for their sense of touch.
